Calla Lily, Screenprint A4

With this A4 screenprint, I have tried to capture the timeless beauty of Calla Lilies, drawing inspiration from the reverence they have held in cultures throughout the ages. The name Calla itself, is the Greek word meaning “beautiful”.

The final edition is a limited run of 7, 5 of which are available on my website, all signed, numbered, stamped, and printed onto recycled card.

Unframed, A4 prints posted flat, in a card backed envelope.

The Process

All of the screenprints in my store are hand pulled by myself. This print was produced from six different stencils, each cut by hand and printed using a silk screen. This type of print is called a reduction screen print, meaning the background was the first layer, and each of the subsequent layers went over the top of the layer before it, to reveal the final design.

Each of the background was mono-screenprinted a technique in which I paint blobs of colour directly onto the screen and then pull the ink through. This means each print has its own unique background layer.
